Christian Bale has made yet another stunning transformation.
The first trailer for Vice, the new Dick Cheney biopic in which Bale stars as the former veep, was just released by Annapurna Pictures, and Bale certainly looks the part. He gained about 40 pounds to play Cheney, per Men's Journal. The Dark Knight actor has become well known for dramatically gaining and losing weight for his roles, having once dropped 60 pounds to star in The Machinist, per HuffPost.
The first footage from Vice also introduces audiences to the rest of the bombshell cast: Amy Adams plays Lynne Cheney, Steve Carell plays Donald Rumsfeld, and Sam Rockwell plays George W. Bush, which means all four main cast members are Oscar nominees or winners.

Vice is written and directed by Adam McKay, who won an Academy Award for his last film, The Big Short, a comedy-drama about the financial crisis. It will be released on Christmas Day, making it prime Oscars material for 2019. The trailer centers around a scene in which former President George W. Bush asks Cheney to be his running mate and Cheney negotiates for a much more involved role than that of a typical vice president. Watch the trailer below. Brendan Morrow
