NBC News' Tom Brokaw attempted to apologize Sunday for comments he made on Meet the Press, doing so in a series of increasingly baffling tweets.

Brokaw had said that "Hispanics should be working harder at assimilation." After his statement drew backlash, he took to Twitter to write, "I feel terrible a part of my comments on Hispanics offended some members of that proud culture." He also said that "ALL sides [have] to work harder ... at finding common ground — which I strongly believe."
