The State of the Union is officially back on

In a blunt letter issued Monday, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) re-invited President Trump to give his State of the Union address on the House floor on Feb. 5. The letter apparently follows a meeting between Pelosi and Trump in which they decided on a date, which itself followed a very passive-aggressive fight over whether the address would be held in the first place.
The State of the Union showdown began earlier this month when Pelosi suggested rescheduling Trump's appearance before the House, originally scheduled for Jan. 29, amid the government shutdown. Trump promptly canceled Pelosi's visit to troops overseas, and reports soon suggested Trump might deliver his address at a rally. But Pelosi then just decided to cancel the State of the Union altogether, and Trump agreed to deliver the address after the shutdown blew over.
Now, it looks like everything is mended — if you ignore Pelosi's very point-blank choice of words. Thank you for your attention to this matter.
