As the Avatar sequels inch closer and closer on the horizon, Emmy-award winning actress Edie Falco has joined the cast.

The franchise's official Twitter account announced Falco's casting in the upcoming movies on Wednesday. She'll be playing General Ardmore, a commander with the Resources Development Administration, the group of humans who head to Pandora in order to mine resources in the original 2009 film. In a tweet, director James Cameron praised Falco as "one of the greats."

The tweet notably says that Falco will be "in the Avatar sequels," confirming she'll be in at least two of them. There are four more Avatar movies on the way, with Avatar 2 scheduled for 2020, Avatar 3 scheduled for 2021, Avatar 4 scheduled for 2024, and Avatar 5 scheduled for 2025. Cameron already completed filming for Avatar 2 and Avatar 3 last fall, Deadline reports. Disney will release the films once its purchase of 20th Century Fox is completed.

You might assume Falco's character is meant to replace Stephen Lang's Colonel Miles Quaritch, the villain of the first movie, but you'd be wrong; Lang will return as the villain in all four sequels, despite his character dying in the first film, Collider reports. Also somehow coming back is Sigourney Weaver, whose character, Dr. Grace Augustine, died in Avatar but will be back for Avatar 2. She says she's playing a different character, though, per CinemaBlend. Also joining Avatar 2 is Kate Winslet, who's playing a Na'vi character and reuniting with Cameron more than two decades after Titanic.

11 years after the original Avatar became the highest-grossing film of all time, Avatar 2 will hit theaters on December 18, 2020.
