Burger King is introducing a new meatless Whopper — and despite having an April Fools' Day launch, it's 100 percent real.

The fast food chain on Monday announced it has started selling Impossible Whoppers at select St. Louis locations, per The New York Times. These vegetarian patties from Impossible Foods are designed to taste exactly like regular Whoppers, and Burger King's North America president, Christopher Finazzo, told Reuters that during testing, "virtually nobody can tell the difference." An Impossible burger had previously launched at White Castle.

Burger King on Sunday debuted a promo video for the Impossible Whopper, in which customers unknowingly eat the vegetarian burger without realizing until after that it's not a normal Whopper.

That video sort of ties the launch in with April Fools' Day, but despite the timing, Burger King is not kidding around here. A company spokesperson clarified in a statement to Mashable that this is definitely a real product launch and not a prank. Plus, the Burger King Twitter account has spent basically the entire morning assuring its followers that this is a real thing, replying to one user by saying the launch being on April 1 is "honestly just a coincidence," promising another follower it's "not a joke, cross my heart" and replying to another with, "april fools? never heard of her."
