This might be President Trump's most surprising departure yet.
Sarah Huckabee Sanders will be leaving her job as White House press secretary at the end of the month, Trump announced Thursday. She'll apparently be returning home to Arkansas, and seems to be in Trump's good graces, seeing as he said he hopes she runs for governor there. That's an idea she's reportedly been discussing privately in the past few weeks, per CNN's Kaitlan Collins.
Sanders has been one of Trump's most unflinching allies, constantly explaining away his gaffes and missteps and artfully avoiding reporters' questions. No replacement for Sanders has been announced, but given her track record, it's unlikely we'll see them at any press briefings anyway.
