Update 9:47 p.m. ET: You can take off your tinfoil hats! KMBC reporter William Joy reports that based on the positions of the unidentified floating objects, the orbs are in all likelihood test balloons belonging to the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency. You can learn more about DARPA's ALTA project, which aims to "develop and demonstrate a high altitude lighter-than-air vehicle capable of wind-borne navigation over extended ranges," here. And for anyone who was hoping for something a little more exciting — don't worry, the truth is out there.
