This statistic shows just how well Kamala Harris performed in the 1st debate
A new poll provides the latest bit of evidence that Sen. Kamala Harris (D-Calif.) was the clear winner of the first Democratic debate.
An ABC News/Washington Post poll released on Wednesday is a little less impressive overall for Harris than some recent bits of polling, placing her in third with 11 percent support, 18 points behind former Vice President Joe Biden. But the poll notably breaks down support both among those who watched last week's debates and those who didn't.
It found that Harris only received about five percent support among those who didn't watch. But among those who did watch the debates, her support jumps up to 20 percent. Among those who watched, Harris comes in just behind Biden, who received 28 percent support.

Not every candidate had this kind of disparity between groups, as ABC News notes there's no significant difference in Biden's polling between watchers and non-watchers. And for some candidates, the debate actually hurt them: Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) polled more than 10 points better among those who didn't watch the debate than those who did. Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) also got a debate bump, with 8 percent support among non-viewers but 17 percent support among viewers.
Additionally, 41 percent of respondents agreed Harris stood out in the debate, with 26 percent saying the same of Warren. And if this question is narrowed down to just those who watched both nights of debates, 72 percent said Harris stood out.
ABC News/Washington Post for this poll spoke to 460 Democrats and Democratic-leaning independents over the phone from June 28-July 1. The margin of error is 5.5 percentage points. Read the full results at ABC News.
