A private jet carrying NASCAR driver and analyst Dale Earnhardt Jr., his wife, Amy, and their 1-year-old daughter crashed in eastern Tennessee on Thursday afternoon, Elizabethton Fire Chief Barry Carrier said.
After landing, the Cessna Citation ran off the runway and caught fire, officials said. Earnhardt's sister, Kelley, tweeted that "everyone is safe and has been taken to the hospital for further evaluation. We have no further information at this time. Thank you for your understanding."
The Federal Aviation Administration said in addition to the Earnhardt family, there were two pilots on board. All five people were out of the plane by the time first responders arrived, CNN reports.
