HBO is developing a Jeffrey Epstein limited series from Succession's Adam McKay
The Jeffrey Epstein case is headed to HBO.
Adam McKay, executive producer of HBO's Succession and director of films like The Big Short and Vice, is set to produce a new HBO limited series about Epstein, Variety reports.
The series will reportedly be based on an upcoming book by Miami Herald reporter Julie K. Brown about the convicted sex offender who was found dead in his Manhattan jail cell earlier this year while awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges. In addition to producing the show, McKay is also reportedly set to direct the first episode; he also directed the pilot episode of Succession in 2018. Brown will reportedly produce as well.

As part of what Vanity Fair called the "inevitable boomlet in big-ticket Epstein productions with Hollywood clout," McKay also helped launch an Epstein-focused podcast last month called Broken: Jeffrey Epstein in collaboration with Brown. "The Epstein story still has dozens and dozens of unanswered questions," he told The New York Times. The Epstein case is also headed to television via a Lifetime documentary called Surviving Jeffrey Epstein, which follows the network's Surviving R. Kelly docuseries focusing on the sexual abuse allegations against the R&B star.
McKay, who was nominated for a Best Director Academy Award this year for his Dick Cheney biopic Vice, has been vocal about the Epstein case in recent months, tweeting in response to news of Bill Gates having spent time with Epstein even after he was already a convicted sex offender, "The Epstein story goes to the core of the rot infecting our current world. And the answer is so simple it's almost off-putting: raise f—ing taxes for the super rich."
