Golden State Warriors' Steph Curry is out 3 months after hand surgery

There's finally a chance we'll have a Warriors-free NBA finals.
Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry underwent surgery Friday for his broken left hand and will be out at least three months, the team announced Friday. That leaves the team without its top scorer for much of the still-early season, and likely will keep them out of the NBA playoffs altogether, the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
Curry went down during a Wednesday game against the Phoenix Suns and was revealed Thursday to have a broken second metacarpal. He's expected to make a full recovery, and the team said it would provide an update on his status in three months. Curry joins fellow guard Klay Thompson on the injury list, as he's out until February after undergoing knee surgery.

Curry was averaging 20 points per game in the still-early season, SFGate notes. He now leaves D'Angelo Russell, with an average of 16 points per game, to lead the team. Curry led the Warriors to five straight NBA finals and three championships, and would've continued to be a dominant force on the team this season.
