Kobe Bryant remembered in Los Angeles Times special section: 'He loved a city that loved him back'
The Los Angeles Times mourned the tragic loss of Kobe Bryant with a powerful front page and special section Monday, remembering the NBA icon as a "talent like no other."
After Bryant, his 13-year-old daughter, and seven others were killed in a helicopter crash Sunday, the LA Times' Dylan Hernandez reflected in a column that the retired Los Angeles Lakers star "was all Los Angeles" and that his death "sent shockwaves everywhere, but nowhere more than here, his home."
Naturally, an obituary for Bryant filled the LA Times' front page Monday, but the paper also dedicated a special section to the tragedy, writing of Bryant on the section's cover, "He loved a city that loved him back." The Times additionally remembered Bryant as a "devoted father" and on the back page of the special section highlighted his bond with his daughter Gianna, who was also killed in the crash.
