Samsung says you can fold and unfold its new smartphone 'over 200,000 times'

Samsung has unveiled a brand new foldable smartphone they say "bends the laws of physics," inviting customers to put its screen to the test a few hundred thousand times.

At an event Tuesday, Samsung officially announced the Galaxy Z Flip, which The Verge reports is the first smartphone with a foldable glass screen as opposed to plastic.

"With this phone, we've done the impossible and created ultra-thin glass that folds," Samsung's Rebecca Hirst said during a presentation. "Now, you might think that foldable glass would be brittle, but this glass is built to last, and it protects your screen from scratches. It's so durable, you can fold and unfold your phone over 200,000 times."

The Galaxy Z Flip is the second foldable smartphone from Samsung after the Galaxy Fold, which was forced to delay its launch last year as journalists reported on review copies breaking after just days of use. It will be available on Feb. 14 starting at $1,380, a price that Hirst observed got "kind of a mixed response" at the event.
