Cow wins fight with helicopter
A cow has escaped unhurt after becoming entangled with a helicopter in northern Queensland, Australia – but the chopper was not so lucky. The aircraft was being used to herd cattle on a remote farm when its landing rails became entangled with the cow's horns, causing it to crash and catch fire. "The cow escaped becoming roast beef and lived to roam another day," said Senior Constable Adam Petersen. The pilot was also uninjured.

Police robot disarms gunman
A sneaky bomb disposal robot has ended a stand-off between a suspected gunman and police in California. While Lancaster officers attempted to negotiate with Ray Bunge, who had barricaded himself inside a dirt trench, a $300,000 (£230,000) Andros bomb disposal robot was used to sneak up on the hideout and retrieve the shotgun by his feet. Realising his only weapon had been take away, Bunge surrendered.
Man in red underpants assaults police
Louisiana officials have charged a man with attempted murder after he allegedly assaulted two officers using "superhuman strength" while wearing only red underpants. Jeremy Wayne Saylor reportedly charged a police car in Baton Rouge after officers were called out to reports of a man high on mojo, a form of synthetic marijuana. Despite being Tasered four times, Saylor, 35, is claimed to have stolen the car and crashed it into a trailer home. He faces a lengthy jail term.
