Kentucky is famous for its bourbon — it's the home of roughly 95 percent of bourbon production. But one resident took his state pride too far, stashing five barrels of stolen Wild Turkey bourbon in his backyard.
Police recovered the barrels, disguised with spray paint, behind a shed in the backyard of 45-year-old Gilbert Thomas Curtsinger's Frankfort residence. A single barrel costs between $3,700 to $6,000, and Wild Turkey officials are currently determining the exact worth of the stolen barrels.
According to the Frankfort police department, the pilfered whiskey was still aging in white oak barrels. Curtsinger's intentions for the whiskey theft are unknown, but his lawyer told AP that "it's way too early to comment on the case." However, the plot thickens: Police also uncovered 25 firearms and a couple of silencers.
