Houston police officers called to deal with a drunk and unruly hotel guest at the downtown Hyatt Regency Sunday morning found a small cache of weapons in the man's top-floor hotel room. The Hyatt is due to host a New Year's Eve celebration several floors down for about 2,000 people Sunday night.

The man's weapons included an AR-15, a shotgun, a handgun, and ample ammunition, police reported. Because the man was very drunk when his room was searched, officers are waiting to question him about his plans for the weapons. "He's intoxicated," said Houston police Lt. Gordon MacIntosh, "so they won't be able to interview him till he's sobered up a bit."
