Trump says he tells the truth 'when I can'

During a week in which President Trump has made a number of demonstrably false statements, he is now defending his ability to tell the truth.
ABC News asked Trump in an interview aired Wednesday whether he's lived up to his campaign promise of never lying to his supporters. Trump said he does his best. "I always want to tell the truth, when I can, I tell the truth," Trump said, although he added that "sometimes it turns out to be where something happens, it's different, there's a change." Just moments earlier, Trump had suggested that there are more people in the migrant caravan than has been reported, explaining that he suspects this because he's "pretty good at estimating crowd size."
One of the false statements ABC News pressed him on is his Tuesday claim that the United States is the only country in the world that grants birthright citizenship. In fact, more than 30 countries do, CNN reports. When questioned, Trump simply said that the false stat was the information he had been given. Watch Trump's full interview with ABC News below.
