The world has lost leading figures from fields including entertainment, politics and science over the past 12 months.
Music lovers mourned the death of Prodigy star Keith Flint, while sports fans were left grieving over the loss of England’s World Cup-winning goalkeeper Gordon Banks.
The restaurant industry was left reeling by the sudden passing of celebrity chef Gary Rhodes, who died at the age of 59 in November while filming in Dubai, while Hollywood legend Doris Day died at the age of 97 in May.

But others who died were less widely admired, with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein dying by apparent suicide behind bars in August, and controversial Zimbabwean dictator Robert Mugabe joining the list a month later.
