Britain will tomorrow remember the persecution and murder of six million Jews and other minorities during World War II in a series of events to mark Holocaust Memorial Day.
The day encourages people to reflect on the horrors of genocide and to learn from the mistakes of the past.

When is Holocaust Memorial Day?
Holocaust Memorial Day takes place on 27 January in the UK, the same day as Germany's Anniversary for the Victims of National Socialism.
The day marks the anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau, the largest Nazi death camp, by the Soviet Union in 1945.
In 2005, the 60th anniversary of the end of World War II, the UN voted to commemorate the day as International Holocaust Remembrance Day.
What is the theme of this year's Holocaust Memorial Day?
Every year, the commemorations choose a specific theme which encourages remembrance not only of the millions killed in the Holocaust, but also victims of other atrocities, such as the genocides in Cambodia, Rwanda, Bosnia and Darfur.
This year's theme, "How can life go on?", examines the aftermath of genocide, particularly survivors' struggles with trauma, displacement and reconciliation.
It was inspired by author and Holocaust survivor Elie Wiesel, who once wrote: "For the survivor death is not the problem. Death was an everyday occurrence. We learned to live with Death. The problem is to adjust to life, to living. You must teach us about living."
How is Holocaust Memorial Day marked?
A range of events, including talks, performances, art displays and remembrance services are taking place throughout the week across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. You can find events and activities near your location on the Trust's website.
In London, Mayor Sadiq Khan attended a commemoration service on 23 January, joined by members of the London Assembly, MPs and Holocaust survivors
Last year, according to the Holocaust Memorial Day Trust, more than 5,590 smaller commemorations also took place across the UK.
