Cathriona White: Jim Carrey 'shocked' by death of ex-girlfriend
Hollywood star says Cathriona White's apparent suicide is a 'lightning bolt'
Actor Jim Carrey has said he is "shocked and deeply saddened" by the apparent suicide of his ex-girlfriend in her Los Angeles apartment.
Cathriona White, 30, was found dead on Monday following a suspected overdose. Pills were found near her body, and police say the incident is being treated as a suicide, but that no conclusion has been reached.
According to the celebrity gossip website TMZ, White and Carrey broke up last week. Their three-year relationship was widely described as "on-off".

White's final tweet, posted on Friday, announced that she was "signing off" from Twitter, adding: "I hope I have been a light to my nearest and dearest."
Carrey said of White, who was from County Tipperary in Ireland: "She was a truly kind and delicate Irish flower, too sensitive for this soil, to whom loving and being loved was all that sparkled."
He added: "My heart goes out to her family and friends and to everyone who loved and cared about her. We have all been hit with a lightning bolt."
Carrey, the 53-year-old star of films such as Dumb and Dumber and Ace Ventura Pet Detective, met make-up artist White in 2012. The Irish Times says White became involved with Carrey after meeting him on a film set.
White worked behind the scenes on The Online Gamer comedy TV series, as well as the short films Firefly and Solitude.
