Police question man with paper bag on head
Authorities deem man not to be suspicious but warn 'there is a time and place for everything' – and other tall tales

Our pick of the strange but true stories from around the world.
Police question concealed man
Police in Bangor, Maine, have said they will take no action after receiving reports of a man with a paper bag on his head. "This man was called into us as being suspicious," they said. "We can absolutely agree with the caller, [but] we had a friendly conversation and it was determined that this is how the person wanted to walk around town. This particular method of concealing oneself is not illegal but we urge people to avoid banks and other businesses while wearing a bag on their head. There is a time and place for everything."

Monkey tourism plan backfires in China
A village in Sichuan, China, has been put under siege by a small army of macaque monkeys. Chinese news station CCTV reports that 73 wild monkeys were captured and relocated to a "monkey park" in Xianfeng in 2003 as part of a plan to attract tourists to the village. But the park's owner died in 2014, and the monkey population – which has swelled to more than 600 – has taken over the village, destroying crops, breaking into homes and fighting in the streets.
Naked axe-man mistaken for Uber driver
Police in Virginia have arrested a naked man who allegedly started swinging an axe at three people during an argument. Officers were called when local residents spotted a car driving erratically before entering a car park. Three people approached the vehicle, believing it to be their Uber ride. This led to an argument with the 64-year-old driver, who was naked behind the wheel. The driver allegedly retrieved a hatchet from the back seat and threatened the three with it before police arrived.
