History in the making: The Globe-Trotter Spitfire collection
The British luggage-maker celebrates the 80th anniversary of the iconic aircraft with a set of three limited-edition cases
2016 marks 80 years since the maiden flight of a Supermarine Spitfire, arguably the most famous fighter aircraft of all time. Designed by North Staffordshire-born Reginald J Mitchell, the Spitfire first flew in 1936 and went on to serve in every theatre of conflict during the Second World War, remaining in production throughout the 1940s and in service throughout the 1950s.
To commemorate this anniversary, luxury luggage brand Globe-Trotter has released a limited-edition capsule collection inspired by the famous fighter plane. Featuring a striking desert camouflage print and finished with a contrasting sky-blue interior lining referencing the iconic markings on the original planes, the collection includes a 14in utility case, 20in trolley case and 30in suitcase.
Globe-Trotter is renowned for producing the finest-quality luggage and travel accessories, and its products have been used by a distinguished client list over the years, including Sir Winston Churchill and HM Queen Elizabeth II, plus countless explorers, such as Captain Robert Falcon Scott and Sir Edmund Hilary.
