Closing time: one final night of Ibizan luxury
Most of the clubbing Mecca’s final closing parties will be held this weekend - here’s how to do them in style
Burning the candle at both ends is not normally advisable, with burnout usually being the end result – but if there’s one place on Earth where the fire for life is seemingly unquenchable, it’s Ibiza.
The White Isle is famous for hosting round-the-clock nightclubs and parties, yet it’s the unbridled spirit that these venues and events embody that makes them so special.
Ibiza brings together people from every walk of life and age bracket, who all share the same ethos: go for it – both raving and recovering.

Party like there is no tomorrow by night and then eat, exercise and pamper yourself by day. Whether you're there to cruise on superyachts, enjoy a spot of agri-tourism or rave at villa parties, this small Balearic island is all about hedonism.
Ibiza's popularity was reinforced this summer, when Californian private airline Surf Air made its Europe debut with a route between the island and London Luton. The airline offers its members unlimited flights and effortless private air travel, for a monthly fee. There are no security lines or commercial terminals to navigate, and you can book via an app in 30 seconds and arrive just 15 minutes before a flight. The service also offers an unlimited selection of wines, beers and a la carte meals on board.
Once you arrive, you can continue the pampering at the adult-only Virtue Wellness at Es Vive. The stunning, three-storey art deco property, just a couple of miles from Ibiza Old Town, boasts a menu of food packed with goodness and flavour. The breakfast buffet, which includes Champagne, is open until midday to catch guests rolling in after partying at Hi or Pacha clubs, or at the beach, all of which are a short walk away. And the on-site wellness centre, complete with sauna and a spa pool, offers traditional Thai massages and Dr. Hauschka facials to repair any damage caused by late nights and the sun.
You can also get a beauty fix at beach clubs across the island, where therapists from Ibiza Angels offer expert massages and treatments. For one-on-one yoga session, try AyurVida Ibiza. Or you can venture further afield with Walking Ibiza, which arranges group hikes to explore the epic scenery of the island.
If you're feeling the need to detox, The Skinny Kitchen – with the motto "Eat clean, rave dirty’ – has two restaurants in San Antonio, while Wild Beets serves vegan and vegetarian food at Santa Gertrudis de Fruitera, in the middle of the island. Love Food Ibiza is another great source of foodie knowledge and recipes, or sample the wonderful vegetarian cooking – and learn how to make fresh juices and infusions – at the non-profit eco-education centre Casita Verde on Sunday afternoons.
Of course, Ibiza is all about the sounds too. A beautiful way to ease into an extended evening of house music is the award-winning Guy Gerber’s Rumors residency at Pacha hotel venue Destino. The season-closing party, on 15 October, is a hotly anticipated event. Alternatively, start your night at Cafe Mambo, where you can dance, drink or even dine before heading out.
Flower Power night at Pacha, another unmissable party, finished its 37th season of happy, hippy vibes on Monday - be sure to check it out next year. Another one for your 2018 list is WooMooN at Cova Santa, which launched in 2016 and has already gained a loyal following who love the psychedelic atmosphere.
Closing parties are big deals at Ibiza’s clubs. Some of the best include Elrow at Amnesia, Black Coffee at Hi, and Ants at Ushuaia featuring Maya Jane Coles and Kim Ann Foxman.
And no Ibiza summer fun is complete without Solomun. The Bosnian deep house DJ and producer has been resident at Pacha for five hugely successful seasons and brings an end to his 2017 residency on 15 October.
Ibiza’s club nights are incredible experiences. Ice cannons fire onto the dance floors to keep revellers cool, and extra oxygen is pumped out to optimise the sensory overload. The light shows, sound systems and outdoor decking spaces mean there is always something going on - so book your seat for the 2018 ride now.
