Conservatorium Hotel - Amsterdam

Mr C - Los Angeles
There’s an old line of Hunter S. Thompson’s that began: “Anyone with a terminally jangled lifestyle needs at least one psychic anchor, and mine is breakfast.” A morning meal at Mr. C in dewy Beverly Hills is an indulgent affair, as all grand hotel breakfasts should be. The food parade that greets you is extensive: there are big plates of eggs with fresh, buttery avocado, sidecars of buttered toast, succulent chicken sausages, golden pancakes, and bowls of red and blue berries. And all washed down with orange and pineapple juices, a final triumphant espresso, and the headlines of the Los Angeles Times. Impressively, the white-jacketed staff remember your breakfast preferences, year after year, trip after trip. It’s a culinary tradition as reliable and as glorious as California sunshine.
Faena-Miami Beach
In creating his Miami Beach location, developer Alan Faena sought to capture Miami’s “urban alchemy” — its intoxicating mix of beachside hedonism, epicurean nightlife, and the city’s unmistakable creative flair. The bespoke art deco interior, all leopard print and red velvet, may sound gaudy, but it works here. The interior feels almost set-like, which is no surprise when you find out it was designed by Great Gatsby director Baz Luhrmann. Faena Miami Beach is beautiful, gilded, relaxing and extravagant — the consummate Miami hotel.
Portrait Firenze - Florence
There is something inherently Italian about the Portrait Firenze’s efforts to create a tailored luxury experience for each guest. It is clear that the staff take hospitality incredibly seriously from the moment you arrive and find yourself greeted by staff not in a typical front-desk setting, but lounging on couches. At check in, guests are asked whether they have any specific reasons for visiting Florence and the staff immediately set about building a bespoke itinerary. The quiet grey and gold colour scheme in the bedrooms creates an aura of understated sophistication that complements the view of the Ponte Vecchio just outside the window.
Gramercy Park Hotel - New York City
Gramercy Park Hotel's plush interiors, artisanal cocktails and wood-panelled walls offer an immediate sense of homely warmth. And in the depths of winter, ther are few experiences greater than sinking into the hotel's inviting red and blue couches, cheeseburger in one hand, martini in the other, and watching New York City disappear under a blanket of snow.
