Following the movie’s release, in 1995, the car was kept by Eon Productions to promote GoldenEye, before being sold to a private collector in 2001 for £157,000 - making it the most expensive piece of Bond memorabilia sold at the time, The Sunday Times reports.

It was the first DB5 to feature in a 007 movie since Sean Connery drove one in Goldfinger (1964) and Thunderball (1965).

Unlike Connery’s version, which was kitted out with gadgets including an ejector seat and bumper-mounted machine guns, the DB5 headed to auction this July is completely original.

That means it still features the 282bhp 4.0-litre straight-six engine that can achieve 0-62mph in 6.5 seconds, The Sun says.

The car will be on show at the Bonhams Aston Martin sale in Berkshire on 1 and 2 June, says The Daily Telegraph.
