Thieves pelt police with stolen wine
And other stories from the stranger side of life
Wine thieves caught mid-heist have attacked police with their expensive haul during a dramatic chase. The vino villains, who were making off with an estimated €350,000 (£317,000) worth of grands crus Burgundy wines taken from a hotel outside Paris, began throwing their loot at officers as they were chased down the motorway. Detectives say they are searching for at least three men.
Cops seek bullish burglars
Police in Wiltshire have issued an appeal after a bronze sculpture of a cow’s head was stolen from a garden. Officers say only a “specialist” could have removed the cow’s head from its plinth, because of its large size and weight. They said: “We’re appealing for witnesses or anyone who may know the whereabouts of a large bronze garden ornament that was stolen from a front garden on New Year’s Day.”
