Six people have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a woman was stabbed in the throat at a luxury hotel in Manchester city centre.

Armed police officers were called to the Hilton, on Deansgate, after the 20-year-old victim fled the luxury hotel in her pajamas and fagged down passing officers shortly after 11am on Monday. A witness said that the woman had a “large slash” across her throat, reports the Daily Mail.

Other passers-by described seeing a woman lying on the ground in a nearby car park “moaning and screaming” and in “severe pain”, before being taken away in an ambulance, says Sky News.

Two women, one dressed in pink pajamas, were later “led away from the glass tower in handcuffs by officers carrying their handbags”, according to the Mail.

Greater Manchester Police (GMP) confirmed that four men – a 20-year-old, 24-year-old and two 26-year-olds – and two women, aged 17 and 20, have been taken into custody, reports HuffPost.

According to the Mail, the victim “had been staying at the £150-a-night hotel after a glitzy party”.

Police said the woman had been released from hospital after being treated for lacerations to the neck.

Detective Inspector Patrick Goodrich, from GMP’s City of Manchester team, said: “Thankfully, the woman’s injuries were less serious than first thought, but we could easily have been dealing with her death, the thought is terrifying.

“Anyone who may be able to help with our investigation is asked to get in touch with police as soon as possible.”
