British tourists arrested over Benidorm double stabbing
Two men due in Spanish court after two bouncers knifed in ‘brawl’ outside bar

Two British tourists have been arrested in Benidorm after two doormen were stabbed in the Spanish party town.
Spanish police confirmed that a 20-year-old and a 21-year-old were in custody, and that both are British nationals.
The double stabbing occurred at a bar on Avenida Majorca, in the centre of the town’s nightlife district, at around 10.30pm last night, according to a police statement.

The two victims, reportedly a Romanian national and a Czech, are not thought to be in a serious condition.
The Mirror Online quotes local media reports suggesting that bar employees were “stabbed by 'aggressive' customers who were being thrown out”. However, this has not been confirmed by authorities.
Media reports have described the pair as Scottish, but this has also not been officially confirmed.
“Tourists told on Facebook how emergency crews dashed to the scene of the stabbing,” The Scottish Sun reports.
One eyewitness told the Daily Record that a fight broke out between “Scottish lads” outside a bar, and that the stabbing occurred when bouncers attempted to intervene. She said that two men then fled the scene.
“One was covered in blood, another was waving a knife and ran down the strip as he got chased,” she said.
Police managed to take the pair into custody on a nearby street. They are due to appear in court for a closed hearing today or tomorrow.
A Foreign and Commonwealth Office spokesperson told The Sun it was aware of the arreats. “Our staff are in contact with the Spanish authorities following the arrest of two British men in Benidorm,” they said.
