The Oscars: A pleasant-enough night out
Best Supporting Actress Lupita Nyong’o stepped forward as “the night’s true Cinderella.”
“A predictable Oscars? Yes. But a bad one, no,” said Christopher Orr in TheAtlantic.com. Any moviegoer might have ended Sunday night arguing against a winner or two, but all the honorees had earned accolades, and host Ellen DeGeneres didn’t make herself the story. That left it to the film stars to shine, and 12 Years a Slave’s Lupita Nyong’o stepped forward as “the night’s true Cinderella,” said Karen Valby in EW.com. When Nyong’o won Best Supporting Actress, she delivered “one of the most endearing, articulate, profound, and joyful speeches in awards show history.”
The evening's biggest winners:
Best Picture: 12 Years a Slave
