Discerning prisoners, who can now write reviews of American jails on the ratings site Yelp.com. “The kitchen used local farms and put great thought in to their seasonally changing menu,” read one 3-star review of San Quentin prison.
Second thoughts, after former Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O’Connor said the court should have refused to hear Bush v. Gore, the 2000 decision that ended the Florida recount and made George W. Bush president. The 5–4 ruling along partisan lines “gave the court a less-than-perfect reputation,” she said.

Show and tell, after a Minnesota firearms instructor shot himself in the hand while trying to show that his handgun wouldn’t go off in its holster. “The gun was pointed in a safe direction,” said Fred Petersen, 66, “but my finger was not in a good spot.”
A taste of your own medicine, after an elderly Swedish couple took revenge on a noisy neighbor by blasting heavy-metal music at full volume around the clock. “I am completely broken down,” said the neighbor. “How can I keep living here?”
