And although the fabled hallucinogenic properties of absinthe are just fables, they still serve as a marketing draw for the drink. “The number of times I’ve heard people say, ‘Oh, my God, I feel so loopy. I’m starting to trip’ after having any amount of absinthe or pastis, it’s ridiculous,” says Jeff Hollinger of San Francisco’s Absinthe Brasserie & Bar. (USA Today)
