Hotel of the week: The Henry Howard Hotel in New Orleans
Vacation in style!
Each week, we spotlight a hotel recommended by some of the industry's top travel writers. This week's pick is the Henry Howard Hotel in New Orleans.
For New Orleans visitors who get overwhelmed by the French Quarter, "there's a more relaxing option a streetcar ride away," said Lindsey Tramuta at The New York Times. The Henry Howard Hotel, a double-gallery 1867 Garden District townhouse, was for years a rundown inn before a recent overhaul gave its 18 rooms a "fun and elegant" upgrade.
Local culture is wittily celebrated in the trumpets and trombones that hang over the beds and in the snare-drum tables in the main parlor. Mardi Gras parades stream past just a block away, on St. Charles Street.
