Five of the best pressure washers
Wash your patio, bike and even the dog with these cleaning devices
1. Bosch Cordless Fontus 18V
This 15-litre washer is powered by an 18V rechargeable battery and doesn’t have to be fed from a tap. Pressure is on the low side at 20 bar, but that means you can use it, on its lowest setting, to wash the dog.
2. Muc-Off bicycle pressure washer
Designed specifically for bikes, this has 70 bar pressure, so it is safe for bearings, suspensions and paint, without being feeble. It has a spray attachment to apply a special foam which lifts off grime. You can also slot in Muc-Off’s popular pink bike detergent. It needs power and water.

3. Kärcher K7 Premium Smart Control Home
The ultimate pressure washer, this has very high 180 bar pressure, but, though relatively neat, it is heavy and difficult to move. It links to a phone app which tells you which attachment and settings are optimal for the task.
4. Nilfisk Core 140-6
This lightweight pressure washer is impressively powerful, giving 140 bar pressure, which is plenty for cleaning patios. Solidly built, it comes with two nozzles, a foam sprayer, soft brush and patio cleaner attachment.
5. Worx Hydroshot
This ultra-light model is just a gun and hose which can be fed into any container holding water. Best for smaller jobs, it gives 22 bar pressure (five times that of a garden hose) with no need for a tap. Simple to use, it has two 20V batteries.
