Owen slams Toon

The Daily Mirror and Daily Star report that Michael Owen has hit out at former club Newcastle United in his new book.

Owen joined the Toon from Real Madrid for £16m in 2005 and in an “explosive blast” he reveals that he hated moving to Newcastle and saw it as a backward step.

‘It will be brutal’

Steve Smith will make his Ashes return tomorrow in the fourth Test at Old Trafford and England bowler Stuart Broad has warned the Australia star to expect a “brutal” welcome.

Smith missed the third Test with concussion after being struck by a Jofra Archer bouncer at Lord’s. The Times, The Daily Telegraph and The Guardian all report that England are ready to rough up the Aussies again.
