2. NISSAN CREATES 2,000 UK JOBS
The UK economy has received a boost with the news that Nissan is to create 2,000 jobs at its Sunderland plant after choosing Britain to manufacture its new five-door hatchback model. Business Secretary Vince Cable says Nissan's move is "a huge vote of confidence" in British industry.

3. ISRAEL DROPS IRAN STRIKE HINT
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu hinted at a unilateral strike against Iran when he told Barack Obama that Israel would remain "master of its fate" and retain "the ability to defend itself, by itself, against any threat". He made the comments after talks with the President over Iran's nuclear programme.

French technicians secretly helped Argentina prepare its Exocet missiles for firing at British ships in the 1982 Falklands War, according to a BBC Radio documentary broadcast last night. HMS Sheffield, HMS Glamorgan and the supply ship Atlantic Conveyor were all hit and lives were lost as a result.

5. HUNDREDS HELD IN RUSSIA
Opposition leader Alexei Navalny was among hundreds of people arrested during a huge anti-Putin protest in Moscow yesterday. As claims of widespread electoral fraud mount, Navalny told demonstrators that the country is run by "swindlers and thieves". One banner at the protest read: "They f***ed us again".

6. SUPER TUESDAY IN REPUBLICAN RACE
The race for the Republican presidential nomination will reach a pivotal point today as voters in 10 US states choose their preferred candidate. The most significant result will be in Ohio, as no Republican nominee has ever become president without winning it. Mitt Romney and Rick Santorum are neck and neck in the state.
7. SECOND DAY OF EUROSTAR DELAYS
Delays and cancelled trains, caused by a problem with overheard cables, continued to hamper the Eurostar service this morning. Among those hit by delays yesterday were the Paris Fashion Week crowd. Model Poppy Delevingne tweeted how she was "deliriously tired" after her journey lasted eight hours.
8. SELF-IMMOLATION GROWS IN CHINA
A teenage protestor burned himself to death in China yesterday, the third self-immolation in three days as fury over Beijing's policies in Tibet grows. Dorjee, 18, shouted anti-government slogans as he set himself on fire. The Free Tibet group is calling on the international community to take action against China.

9. LADY GAGA BREAKS 20M ON TWITTER
Pop singer Lady Gaga has become the first person to attract 20 million followers on the social networking site, Twitter. She now has 2 million more followers than the second most popular person on the site, Justin Bieber. The message that propelled through the barrier was about Bruce Springsteen.
