1. CAPITAL'S TERROR THREAT REVEALED

Security services are monitoring “thousands” of terror suspects in London, says Boris Johnson, implying that the threat from domestic jihadists may be far greater than has previously been suggested. “In London we’re very, very vigilant and very, very concerned,” he tells the Daily Telegraph. “There are probably in the low thousands of people that we are monitoring in London.”

2. UK EUROPE’S ‘SINGLE-PARENT CAPITAL’

Britain is “the single parent capital of Western Europe” says the Daily Mail, as it is revealed that children are more likely to be in single-parent families in Britain than anywhere else in Europe except Latvia. Researchers found that in 2012 around 24% of UK children lived in single-parent households, leading pro-marriage campaigners to call on the government to encourage couples to wed.

3. HOW TONY BLAIR ‘COPIED’ HITLER

Tony Blair “copied” some of Adolf Hitler’s oratory techniques, claims Boris Johnson. In his new book on Sir Winston Churchill, the London mayor writes how the Nazi leader had a “hypnotic quality” which enraptured audiences, bringing them to a “collective climax”. He adds: “It was to become a highly influential technique, copied, among others, by Tony Blair."

The UN is warning of a potential genocide in Kobane as ISIS continues to push into the town. The development is uncomfortable for Hillary Clinton, as she seemingly prepares to run for president again.

UKIP leader Nigel Farage is back on the campaign trail today as he basks in Thursday’s by-election victory in Clacton. He is campaigning ahead of the Rochester and Strood by-election. Meanwhile, the Conservatives and Labour are under pressure to respond to the Ukip victory. David Cameron is set to announce a crackdown on immigration from the EU.

9. CALIFORNIA BANS PAPARAZZI DRONES

A law has been passed in California to prevent paparazzi using drones to gather photographs of celebrities. Drones have circled over the homes of celebrities in the state, snapping photographs of the stars. The paparazzi bill, signed into law by the state's governor Jerry Brown, aims to stop the trend. However, there are question marks over how effectively it can be enforced.
