3.5/5 Car buyer “The XJ is Jaguar’s top-of-the-range saloon, rivalling the BMW 7 Series and Mercedes S Class, and as one of the manufacturer’s latest models it features sophisticated looks inside and out. It has plenty of legroom in the back and a classy interior that combines traditional wood and leather with the latest technology. Although you’re likely to buy the XJ to be frugal, Jaguar does offer the car with a 3.0 litre diesel engine that’s both quick and economical. Jaguar also offers plenty of equipment as standard – even in the basic model – and a three-year manufacturer’s warranty.”

The design is guaranteed to divide opinion, but when it comes to blending luxury and dynamics the XJ has the competition licked. As fast as you’ll ever need to be on the road, the XJ responds like a car half its size in the bends, resisting body roll and maintaining its balance. A fantastic luxury car.”
8/10 Top Gear “The XJ is a car that has all the best bits of its German competition with a slice of British brilliance thrown in for good measure. There really aren’t many bad bits – it’s a bit firm around town if we’re being brutal and people might worry about the rear end – but the XJ carries Jaguar further into the realms of unquestioned competition. In fact, it actually feels like it’s got one over on the Germans. In the spirit of the best saloons it has quick steering and a mobile rear-end, making a car to drive rather than be driven in. At times, it nudges brilliance.

Just as your brain is saying you’re in a monster limo so best go easy, the big Jag locks into the turn and hits the apex perfectly, goading you to push harder. The way it drives will simply seduce you. And while there may be plenty of competition, if you enjoy driving, the new XJ will take some beating.”
