Rising tensions between Israel and Palestine have taken centre stage this week, with Israeli airstrikes on Gaza intensifying as Hamas retaliates by firing rockets at Jerusalem.

The latest outbreak of violence was triggered by a dispute over evictions from a contested neighbourhood in East Jerusalem, but has quickly spread beyond the city. Rioting has broken out across Israel, as the country’s military continues to bombard the Palestinian territory.
