Man plays saxophone during brain surgery

Doctors in Italy have said they performed delicate brain surgery during which “the patient remained awake and playing the saxophone”, reported UPI. Paideia International Hospital in Rome said the 35-year-old patient was kept awake and played his saxophone during the nine-hour operation to remove a brain tumour. The medics said the musical performance allowed the surgeons to map the different functions of his brain as they operated.
World’s oldest doctor reaches 100
A 100-year-old Ohio man set the Guinness World Record for being the world’s oldest working doctor. Speaking to Cleveland.com, Dr Howard Tucker said: “People say to me, you’re doing pretty good for 100, and I say to myself how many 100-year-old people have they sampled? I don’t think I’ve ever met another 100-year-old person. I have only met myself.” Speaking to the world record classifiers, he added: “When you love what you do and are still capable of doing it, why would you want to retire?”
23 contact lenses removed from patient’s eye
A doctor has shared a video of her removing 23 contact lenses from a patient’s eye. Posting on Instagram, Dr Katerina Kurteeva shared the clip of her teasing the lenses from underneath a woman’s eyelid. According to the post, the patient put in a new set of lenses for 23 days in a row without taking the previous day’s out. “A rare occasion when someone ‘forgot’ to remove contact lenses at night and kept on putting a new one in every morning,” wrote Dr Kurteeva. ” Speaking to Insider, the Dr said the patient was sent away with eye drops and was feeling “better already”.
