Christian Eriksen could still leave Tottenham Hotspur in the next fortnight with the Danish playmaker eager to join Real Madrid.

Barcelona and Juventus have also been linked with the midfielder, whose contract expires next summer, but it’s Real who are poised to make Tottenham an offer before the European transfer window closes on 2 September.

According to the Sun, Real are planning a £60m bid for him but are biding their time until the last minute “in an effort to force Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy’s hand in negotiations”.

Bruges eye Wanyama

Tottenham midfielder Victor Wanyama is a target for Belgian club Bruges, says the Daily Express. The Kenyan has slipped down the pecking order at Spurs and he saw a move to West Ham fall through this summer.

Mustafi for the chop?

Arsenal director Josh Kroenke has hinted that the club is ready to take an axe to the dead wood, and that could be bad news for Shkodran Mustafi.

The Sun says that Kroenke, son of Arsenal owner Stan, has given a strong indication that the Gunners must streamline their squad, saying: “We’re going to be aggressive and we’re going to be decisive, and we’re going to communicate well and honestly through it all.”

Describing Mustafi as an “unpopular centre-back”, the Sun says the sands of time are running down on his Arsenal career. AS Roma are ready to offer him a loan move with an option to buy worth £18m-£22m.

Kroenke wouldn’t be drawn on names when he spoke to BBC Sport, simply saying: “I know there are a few names that have come up who might not see as much playing time this season, so whether that’s via loan or permanent transfer I know there are discussions going on. I’ll leave that to our football operations staff.”

Milan wanted Torreira

Lucas Torreira’s agent Pablo Bentancur has confirmed that the Arsenal midfielder was a target for AC Milan this summer, but the Gunners had no intention of selling.

Bentancur told TMW: “There was the possibility. [Milan manager Marco] Giampaolo is in the heart of Lucas. But Arsenal had no intention of selling the boy. Lucas is fine, the club are happy with him. This will be the year of consecration. With the Arsenal shirt.

“Milan is Milan, it will always be an important team, even if today it has some economic problems.”

New kid on the block

Arsenal, Manchester City and Tottenham are all monitoring the progress of Eduardo Camavinga, described by Football.London as “one of French football’s fastest rising stars”.

Only 16-years-old, the midfielder has already caught the eye for Rennes this season in the French top flight. He made his senior debut last season and in the new campaign his development continues apace, with scouts from the trio of Premier League clubs all sending favourable reports back to HQ.

According to Metro, Spurs even tried to sign the teenage sensation in the summer “off the back of just seven senior appearances”.

New deal for Sancho

England winger Jadon Sancho will be rewarded with a bumper new contract at Borussia Dortmund. The 19-year-old, who was linked with Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain, will hit the jackpot by signing a £190,000-a-week deal with Dortmund, says the Daily Mail.

Rojo set for loan?

According to reports in Turkey Manchester United defender Marcos Rojo could join Fenerbahce on loan. The Manchester Evening News understands that United are willing to allow Rojo to leave before Turkish transfer window closes on 2 September.

Zappacosta lands in Rome

Sky in Italy reports that Chelsea defender Davide Zappacosta has arrived in Italy ahead of his season-long loan move to Serie A club AS Roma. He said: “Returning to my country is very emotional. I missed Italy a lot and I’m happy to return here with Roma.”

Batshuayi will fight for spot

Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi will stay and fight for his place at Stamford Bridge. However, the London Evening Standard adds that the Belgian will reassess his situation in January.
