Man Utd transfer news: £52m deal agreed for Shakhtar Donetsk star Fred
Brazilian midfielder will be joined at Old Trafford next season by Porto defender Diogo Dalot
Manchester United have agreed a deal with Shakhtar Donetsk for midfielder Fred and are also set to sign Diogo Dalot from Porto.
According to The Sun, Fred has swapped Shakhtar for United in a £52m, five-year deal. He will link up with his new teammates after doing his bit for Brazil in the World Cup.
A statement on the United website said the club was “delighted to announce it has reached agreement with Shakhtar Donetsk for the transfer of Frederico Rodrigues de Paula Santos” – or Fred as he prefers to be known.

The Sun claims that Jose Mourinho and executive vice chairman Ed Woodward were “determined to get the deal over the line” before the start of the World Cup next week. Their wish was granted after the 25-year-old passed his medical in Manchester.
Dalot completes Old Trafford medical
Meanwhile, Fred will be joined at Old Trafford next season by Dalot, the young defender who comes highly recommended. Still only 19, the right-back only made his Porto debut in February. He’s done enough in the months since to convince Mourinho he has a bright future at United.
The Daily Express says that the teenager has completed his medical and agreed personal terms. An official announcement will be made in the next 48 hours with United ready to pay “almost £20m” for his services.
According to BBC Sport, the arrival of Dalot should “hasten the exits” of defenders Matteo Darmian and Daley Blind. Darmian has been linked with Juventus and Blind is a target for Inter Milan.
