Former Oasis star Noel Gallagher has revealed his pleasure at watching the crisis “unravel” at Manchester United.

In an interview with talkSPORT the singer-songwriter said that United’s poor start to the season was music to the ears of Manchester City fans like himself.

United have lost two of their opening three league games this season and the pressure is mounting on Old Trafford boss Jose Mourinho, who stormed out of a recent press conference after demanding respect from media critics.

Speaking on the radio station’s “Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast” Gallagher said: “He [Mourinho] seems to be sinking at the minute and if he is asking for the press to give him more respect, this is the start of the unravelling I think.

“In the 90s when United were winning three in a row, the Champions League and doubles and trebles, you couldn’t envisage them going ten minutes without winning the league.

“But it does happen and since [Sir Alex] Ferguson left United - which was a great day for British football - it is all beginning to unravel. And I am going to sit back and watch it with great pleasure.”

It wasn’t just United who were a target for the rocker, but also Liverpool and their supporters. Gallagher added: “Liverpool fans are a bit weird. They get over emotional. They are like the Queen Mother, Liverpool fans. They think everyone loves them. They are little bit deluded.”
