According to the Daily Mail, Pogba told Mourinho that he wanted to join Barcelona and this led to him being stripped of the vice-captaincy. However, The Sun reports that after the bust-up with Mourinho the 25-year-old actually wants a return to Juventus.
The Daily Telegraph suggests that United will be forced to choose a side in the Mourinho-Pogba “power battle” and the Daily Mirror says they will seek a fee of £200m if they do sell the player.
Barca eye Kante
Another French World Cup-winning midfielder who is mentioned in the transfer rumours today is Chelsea’s N’Golo Kante. Italian outlet Sport Mediaset reports that Kante is on Barcelona’s target list for next season. (Sky Sports)
Sane and Dybala to swap?
It’s claimed that Manchester City would only let Leroy Sane go to Juventus if striker Paulo Dybala was included as part of the deal. Reports earlier this week claim that the Italian champions were keen on signing German winger Sane. (CalcioMercato)
‘Keegan turned down Benzema’
Former Newcastle United vice-president Tony Jimenez has told The Times that Kevin Keegan rejected the opportunity to sign Karim Benzema and Daniel Sturridge during his second spell as manager. In his new book Keegan claims that Jimenez turned down Luka Modric for being “too lightweight”. The Croatian, who was this week named the Fifa Best Player of the Year, then signed for Tottenham.
Gary Cahill: Chelsea to Sheffield Wednesday/Aston Villa
Championships clubs Sheffield Wednesday and Aston Villa are keen to sign Gary Cahill. The defender is out of favour at Chelsea and will ask for a move in January if he fails to break into Maurizio Sarri’s side. It’s reported that Cahill, who is 32, would prefer to keep playing in the Premier League (The Sun)
Serie A trio target Darmian
Manchester United right-back Matteo Darmian is wanted by Serie A clubs Roma, Inter and Juventus. The 28-year-old said earlier this year it would be a “dream” going back to Italy. (CalcioMercato)
Davy Propper: Brighton to Sevilla
Sevilla are planning to make a move to sign Brighton’s Dutch midfielder Davy Propper. The Spanish side may bid for the 27-year-old in the January transfer window. (Sky Sports via Mundo Deportivo)
