Tottenham’s move to their new stadium won’t happen until “at least March”, the BBC reports, after the Premier League club confirmed that their February fixtures will be played at Wembley.

The north London club also said that should they reach the FA Cup fifth round and be drawn at home that fixture will also be held at Wembley on the weekend of 16/17 February.

Spurs had planned to move to their new stadium in September but the construction has suffered delays. The BBC says the fixture against Crystal Palace on 16 March could now be the first at their new stadium.

Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy said: “I should like to apologise to our fans and thank you for your continued patience. The response from those who attended the familiarisation event was great to hear and reinforced our commitment to deliver an exceptional matchday experience for everyone.

“We shall now seek clarity in respect of building test schedules and test event dates and provide further information on these in the next two to three weeks.”
