Progress in De Gea and Martial talks
Manchester United caretaker manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer says the club is “making progress” in their contract negotiations with goalkeeper David de Gea and forward Anthony Martial.
Sky Sports reports that United have “taken up an option to extend the contracts of both players until June 2020” and talks are now ongoing for longer deals.

Solskjaer said: “I think the club is making progress, but I leave that to the right people to do that. I don’t really know how far away [we are] but hopefully we can have some good news in the coming weeks.”
Arsenal’s Bailly interest ‘not a big surprise’
Arsenal have been linked with a loan move for Man Utd defender Eric Bailly and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is not surprised by the rumours. United face Arsenal in the FA Cup tomorrow night and on the Bailly story, Solskjaer said: “I’m not surprised if they do, put it that way. It’s just one of those things. It’s just speculation and it’s not a big surprise.” (ESPN)
Morata requested to leave
Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri says Alvaro Morata’s request to leave the club forced the Blues into the transfer market. Chelsea yesterday sealed a loan deal for Gonzalo Higuain and Sarri said: “Morata, one month ago, said he wanted to play in another team, so it was really very difficult for him to give us the 100% for his mental situation.” Morata is expected to join Atletico Madrid on loan. Paredes set for PSG
Chelsea look set to miss out on signing Zenit St Petersburg midfielder Leandro Paredes. Paris Saint-Germain have bid £34.9m for the 24-year-old Argentinean. (The Daily Telegraph)
Giggs backs Ramsey move to Juve
Wales manager Ryan Giggs believes that Aaron Ramsey’s potential move from Arsenal to Juventus will be good for the midfielder. Welsh international Ramsey is out of contract at the end of the season and a move to Juve is likely. Giggs said: “He’s going to a top-class football club, one of the best in the world. That will improve you as a player. When you’re an international coach, all you want is your players playing and he’ll be playing at the highest level.” (Sky Sports)
Inter seek Soares
Southampton right-back Cedric Soares is a target for Italian giants Inter Milan. According to reports Inter are in “advanced talks” to sign the 27-year-old Portugal international. (Sky in Italy)
Monaco to win Martins race
Atletico Madrid winger Gelson Martins looks set to join AS Monaco on loan. The Portugal international has been linked with Arsenal and Newcastle. (ESPN)
Belotti to be a Hammer?
According to reports in Italy West Ham United are keen on signing striker Andrea Belotti from Torino. (TuttoSport)
Gómez also wanted
West Ham are also linked with Celta Vigo striker Maxi Gómez. The Uruguayan is valued at around £40m. (The Guardian)
Dortmund eye Zaha
Crystal Palace forward Wilfried Zaha is a summer target for German giants Borussia Dortmund. Palace will demand a fee of more than £50m for the 26-year-old Ivory Coast international. (The Guardian)
Moses set for Turkish loan
Victor Moses is set to leave Chelsea and join Turkish club Fenerbahce on loan to the end of the season. (Goal)
