Massachusetts General Hospital said Tuesday that it is treating an unidentified patient who may have Ebola, in a "specially prepared area within the hospital." The patient is in stable condition and fine spirits, Mass General's director of emergency preparedness, Dr. Paul Biddinger, said at a press conference Tuesday evening. A definitive Ebola diagnosis could take days, he added, but "we feel extremely confident that all of our patients, all of our staff, all of our visitors are completely safe."

Mass General, in Boston, isn't among the 35 hospitals nationwide that federal health officials designated as Ebola treatment centers on Tuesday.
