The World Health Organization released a statement on Friday recommending that men who have recovered from the Ebola virus abstain from sex for three months, Reuters reports.

While no cases of Ebola infection involving sexual transmission have been recorded, the virus has been detected in seminal fluid up to three months after a patient recovers from the virus. Nearly 16,000 people have been infected by the Ebola virus in the current West Africa outbreak, and there is not yet a cure or vaccine.
