It's Sting to the rescue: In an attempt to boost ticket sales, the singer is joining the cast of the Broadway musical The Last Ship, starting Dec. 9.

Sting, who wrote the lyrics and music for the show, will star as the lead through Jan. 10. Since its premiere Sept. 29, The Last Ship has lost $75,000 a week by not selling enough tickets, The New York Times reports. The musical's lead producer, Jeffrey Seller, thinks Sting will also help bring in award nominations. "Our goal is to win the Tony," he said.
