Jovian — the lemur better known as the titular host of PBS' Zoboomafoo — has died of kidney failure in his home at the Duke Lemur Center. He was 20.
Zoboomafoo, an Emmy-winning children's show that still airs in syndication, cast Jovian as the lemur host who introduced young viewers to a wide variety animals during the show's 65-episode run. Though Zoboomafoo was often played by a puppet, the show's creative team used Jovian when it needed footage of Zoboomafoo jumping — as seen in the show's insanely catchy title credits:
Jovian leaves behind his mate, seven children, and four grandchildren.
