Tom Corbett becomes first Pennsylvania governor ever to lose re-election
Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Corbett (R) has been blown out by Democrat Tom Wolf, becoming the first governor in the state's modern history to lose re-election.
In fairness to Corbett, Pennsylvania only began allowing governors to seek consecutive terms in 1968. Still, "first governor ever to lose re-election in state history" is not the sort of thing politicians would like to add to their resumes.
Corbett's loss is also the first gubernatorial pickup for Democrats on the night. Though Democrats are projected to lose the Senate, they have a strong shot at picking up a net positive number of governor's mansions.
